SUBJECT: Motion by the Police Citizens Relations Committee
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and the
Commission of a motion made by the Police Citizen Relations Committee at their
meeting on June 19, 2018.
BACKGROUND: The Police Citizen Relations Committee has discussed the ability of
the Miami Beach Police Department to meet the current challenges facing the public
safety needs of the City of Miami Beach, and has concluded that there is a need for an
increase in the amount of police officers in the Miami Beach Police Department.
MOTION: The consensus of the Committee is to increase the authorized sworn staffing
for the Police Department to 438.
