RESOLUTION NO. 69+9
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FINDING AS
TO THE NUMBER OF FREEHOLDERS LEGALLY QUAL.
IFIED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION
HELD JUNE 7TH, 1949; AND CANVASSING THE
RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION AND DECLAR..
ING THE RESULT TO BE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
BONDS IN THE TOTAL SUM OF $1,481,000.00
FOR THE PURPOSES IN THIS RESOLUTION STATED.
WHEREAS, the City Clerk and Supervisor Df Registration in the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, nas certified that the total number
of freeholders who were qualified electors residing in said City,
and legally qualified to participate in the Special Election held
in said City on June 7th, 1949, was 4902, and
WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns
of the certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held and con..
ducted said Special Election held on June 7th, 1949, such canvass
having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare
that the total number of freeholders who were qualified electors
residing in said City and legally qualified to participate in the
Special Election held in said City on June 7th, 1949, was 4902,
and that a majority thereof participated in said election, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby find and declare
that the total number of votes cast in said election in favor of
the approval of the bonds and the total number of votes cast in
said election against the approval of the bonds were as follows:
Upon the question 1: "Shall the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, issue negotiable coupon
bonds in the amount of $650,000.00
with interest at a rate hereafter
to be determined, not exceeding 3i-%
per annum, for the purpose of con.
strutting STORM SEWERS?" 386 votes
were cast, of which 3029 votes were
"For Bonds" and 357 votes were
"Against Bonds".
Upon the question 2: "Shall the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds
in the amount of $831,000.00 with
interest at a rate hereafter to be
determined, not exceeding 30 per
annum, forthe payment of which a
special annual tax will be levied,
the amount of which levy will be
reduced by collections from special
improvement assessments made against
abutting property, for the purpose
of constructing a WHITE WAY LIGHTING
SYSTEM on the following highways:
5th Street, from Alton Road to Ocean Drive ;
West 41st Street, from Alton Road to Pine
Tree Drive; Collins Avenue, from 63rd
Street to 75th Street; 71st Street, from
Indian Creek Drive to Collins Avenue and
Everglades Concourse from Rue Notre Dame
to Indian Creek; Collins Avenue, from
Biscayne Street to 5th Street; Collins
Avenue, from 5th Street to 15th Street;
Collins Avenue from 15th Street to 23rd
Street; Alton Road, from 5th Street to
15th Street; Alton Road, from 15th Street
to Collins Canal; Meridian Avenue, from
Lincoln Road to Collins Canal; 17th
Street, from Washington Avenue to Collins
Avenue; Everglades Concourse from Rue
Notre Dame to North Bay Causeway Approach
and North Bay Causeway Approach; Collins
Avenue from 75th Street to 87th Terrace;
Drexel Avenue, from 12th Street to Lincoln
Road; Pennsylvania Avenue, from 7th Street
to Lincoln Road; Euclid Avenue, from 5th
Street to Lincoln Road; Jefferson Avenue,
Michigan Avenue, and Lenox Avenue, from
5th Street to 11th Street, and from 15th
Street to Lincoln Road; 6th Street, from
Washington Avenue to Alton Road; 7th and
8th Streets, from Pennsylvania Avenue to
Alton Road; 9th and 10th Streets, from
Washington Avenue to Alton Road; 11th
Street, from Drexel Avenue to Alton Road;
12th Street, from Drexel Avenue to Meridian
Avenue; 13th Street and 14th Street, from
Washington Avenue to Meridian Avenue; 14th
Place, from Pennsylvania Avenue to Meridian
Avenue; 15th and 16th Streets, from
Washington Avenue to Alton Road; Meridian
Avenue, from 5th Street to Lincoln Road;
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th,
11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Streets, from
Washington Avenue to Ocean Drive; Lincoln
Road from Collins Avenue to a point at or
near 400 feet east of Collins Avenue;
James Avenue, from Lincoln Road to 19th
Street; Park Avenue, from 19th Street to
23rd Street; Liberty Avenue, from 19th
Street to 21st Street, and from 22nd Street
to 23rd Street; 18th and 19th Streets,
from Washington Avenue to Collins Avenue;
20th and 21st Streets, from Washington Ave-
nue to Collins Avenue; 22nd Street, from
Washington Court to Collins Avenue; Washing-
ton Court; Washington Avenue, from Lincoln
Road to Collins Canal; Alton Road, from
19th Street to 63rd Street, and 63rd Street,
from Alton Road to Indian Creek Drive;
Collins Avenue, from 44th Street to 63rd
Street; Normandy Drive, from Bay Drive at
easterly end of Isle of Normandy to Bay
Drive at westerly end of Isle of Normandy;
67th Street, from Collins Avenue to Harding
Avenue?". 3,281 votes were cast, of which
2,764 votes were "For Bonds" and 517 votes
were "Against Bonds".
and,
WHEREAS, a majority of the total number of freeholders who were
qualified electors residing in said City, and legally qualified to participate
in said Special Election, did vote therein, and

WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast were in favor of the approval
of the bonds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby declare
that the issuance of said bonds in the aggregate sum of $1,481,000.00, has
been duly and legally approved by thevoters, as provided by law.
PASSED, and ADOPTED this 8th day of June, A. D. 1949.
