Resolution 7019 RESOLUTION NO. 7019 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING AN ELECTION AT WHICH THERE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT ORDINANCE NO. 891 SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, deems it advisable to submit to the qualified electors of said City the question of whether or not Ordinance No. 891 as passed and adopted by said City Council on August 17th, 1949, shall become effective, said ordinance being entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EN- TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PENSION AND RETIR: iENT SYSTEM FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" ; DE- FINING THE TERM "DEPENDENT BENEFICIARY" ; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED EMPLOYEE CONTTRI- BUTIONS AND BENEFITS AT EMPLOYEE'S OPTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONAL INCREASE IN THE CITY'S CONTRIBUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR MINI- MUM RETIREMENT AND PENSION BENEFITS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY RETIRANTS IN ELECTIONS FOR TRUSTEES." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That a special election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from 7:00 o'clock A.M. until 7:00 o'clock P.M. , on the 25th day of October, A. D. 1949, for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the duly registered and qualified electors of said City the question of whether or not Ordinance No. 891, as passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, on August 17th, 1949, shall become effective, said ordinance being entitled: "AN ORDINArCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA EN- TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PENSION AND RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" ; DEFINING THE TERM "DEPENDENT BENEFICIARY"; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED EMPLOYEE CONTRI- BUTIONS AND BENEFITS AT EMPLOYEE'S OPTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONAL INCREASE IN THE CITY'S CONTRIBUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR MINI- MUM RETIREMENT AND PENSION BENEFITS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY RETIRANTS IN ELECTIONS FOR TRUSTEES." SECTION 2: That the City Clerk, who is also Supervisor of Registration, open the books of said City from 9:00 o'clock A.M. until 5:00 o'clock P.M. each day, Sundays and Holidays and Half- holidays excepted, from September 22nd, 1949, to October 12th, 1949, both inclusive, for the purpose of registering those electors who are qualified to register for this election, and after said October 12th, 1949, no elector shall be registered for said election. -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA SECTION 3: For the purpose of holding and conducting said election the City of Miami Beach has been dividedinto voting pre- cincts or election districts, with polling places therein, as follows: PRECINCT NO. 25: Being all of the area -.rithin the City of Miami Beach lying North of the centerline of 51st Street, the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69TH STREET FIRE STATION, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive. PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the centerline of 51st Street ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne Water- way, thence Westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersec- tion of 41st Street and Prairie Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boule- vard, thence along the centerline of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE DADE BOULE- VARD FIRE STATION, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard. and Pine Tree Drive. PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the centerline of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at MUNICIPALGOLF CLUB HOUSE, situated at 21st Street and Washington Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running .'lesterly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at the FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street be- tween Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE LIFE GUARD STATION, situated in Lummus Park on the Ocean Front at 10th Street. PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addi- tion No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Poling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated between 3rd and 4th Streets on Alton Road. -2- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands South of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the MUNICIPAL PIER, situated on the Ocean Front at Biscayne Street. All electors shall vote at the polling places in the voting precincts in which the City Registration books show that said electors reside. SECTION 4: That Notice of said election shall be given by publication in the Florida Sun a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Miami Beach, Florida. Such pub- lication shall be made once each week for a period of four consecutive weeks next preceding the day of such election. SECTION 5: That Notice of Election shall be substantially in the following form: "CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION. NOTICE is hereby given that an election has been called by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and will be held in said City from 7:00 o'clock A. m. , until 7:00 o'clock P.M. , on the 25th day of October, A. D. 1949 at which there shall be submitted to the duly regis- tered and qualified voters of said City, the following question: Shall Ordinance No. 391 as passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, on August 17th, 1949, become effective, said ordinance being entitled: 'AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EN- TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PENSION AND RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA"; DEFINING THE TERM "DEPENDENT BENEFICIARY" ; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED EMPLOYEE CONTRI- BUTIONS AND BENEFITS AT EMPLOYEE'S OPTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONAL INCREASE IN THE CITY'S CONTRIBUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR MINI- MUM RETIREMENT AND PENSION BENEFITS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY RETIRANTS IN ELECTIONS FOR TRUSTEES. ' For the purpose of holding and conducting said election the City of Miami Beach has been divided into voting precincts or election districts with polling places therein, as follows: PRECINCT NO. 25: Being all of the area within the City of Miami Beach lying North of the centerline of 51st Street the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69TH STREET FIRE STATION, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive. -3- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the centerline of 51st Street ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence Westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH ELIIMENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Prairie Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the centerline of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island, and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive. PRECINCT NO. 23: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach, lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the centerline of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at MUNICIPAL GOLF CLUB HOUSE, situated at 21st Street and Washington Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach, lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line pro- duced, the Polling Place of which shall be at T =E FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and i)rexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach, lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE LIFE GUARD STATION situated in Lummus Park on the Ocean Front at 10th Street. PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach, lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE' SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Isand, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated between Third and Fourth Streets on Alton Road. -4- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA 7 PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway Property and the islands South of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the MW' ICIPAL PIER, situated on the Ocean Front at Biscayne Street. All electors shall vote at the polling places in the voting precincts in which the City Registration Books show that said electors reside. The Registration Books will be open from 9:00 o 'clock A. M. until 5:00 o'clock P.N. each day, Sundays, Holi- days and Half-holidays excepted from September 22nd, 1949, to October 12th, 1949, both inclusive, for the registration of persons qualified to register for said election.
