Resolution 7034 RESOLUTION NO. 7034
WHEREAS, on recommendation of our auditors, our City
` Manager and our City Clerk, this Body passed and adopted L(eso-
lution No. 6565, on April 21st, 1948, approving of the' instal-
lation of the cremation system, (as explained in letters of
recommendation attached to this Resolution No. 6565) , in the
handling of our bonds and interest coupons as they are retired,
and
WHEREAS, said cremation system was, thereafter put into
operation, all bonds and interest coupons paid by our agent,
Chemical Bank and Trust Company of New York City, since the
passage of said resolution having been burned to ashes by them,
and certificates of cremation having been filed with us as
per agreement, and
WHEREAS, prior to the adoption of this cremation system
it had been our custom to permanently file all paid bonds and
interest coupons, both those paid by our New York agent and
also those owned by the City of Miami Beach at the time of
their maturity, and
WHEREAS, these files of paid bonds and coupons have be-
come voluminous and unwieldy and a recent complete count and
audit of said paid bonds and coupons having been made,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby direct and
authorize the City Clerk to forthwith cause all presently filed
paid bonds and interest coupons to be burned to ashes, in the
presence of himself, the Assistant City Manager and one member
of this Body, and to prepare a list of all of said paid bonds
and interest coupons so burned, in the form of cremation certi-
ficates to be signed by said three witnesses, one copy of said
certificates to be attached to and be permanently filed with
the original copy of this resolution and one copy of said
certificates to be permanently filed and recorded by the
Accounting Department.

Attention: Mr. C. W. Tomlinson, City Clerk
Dear Sir:
In compliance with your request we have
completed checking in detail the redeemed bonds and
coupons of the City of Miami .Beach.
These Bonds and Coupons were checked against
the Certificate of Cremation comprising 71 pages, pre-
pered by your office, a copy of which is now in our
files.
We did not find a single discrepancy or
omission in our examination and we feel that your
employees are to be complimented in their handling of
this work.
After the examination was completed the bonds
an coupons were placed in t,nelve separate cartons, tied
securely, numbered, and sealed by our representatives .
This work was completed at 11 :00 a.m. , Thursrray
November 3, 1949 . At• #:30 p.m. on the same day one of
our representatives was present at the Cremation Ceremony
which took Place at Flager Memorial Park Cemetery, 5301
West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida.
Our representative again inspected these
cartons to determine that they were still sealed and
ready for Cremation.

the burning of our old coltpon bonds hut owing to Pressure
of other matters it was overlooked, but we do want you •
to know that your help and courtesy was really appreciated
for we had been pondering the problem of how to properly
dispose of these bonds for some months and again I want
to thank you in behalf of the City of Miami Beach.
