Resolution 7068 • RESOLUTION NO. 7068 WHEREAS, the Normandy Branch of the United States Post Office at Miami Beach, Florida, was this week removed from 7132 Abbott Avenue to 730 - 71st Street; and WHEREAS, the said removal was apparently effected with dispatch and without consultation with municipal officials in the City of Miami Beach and without due and adequate considera- tion; and WHEREAS, the site of the new post office location is on a through and heavily traveled thoroughfare; and WHEREAS, parking facilities within the immediate vicinity of the said new location are at a minimum; and WHEREAS, the continued maintenance and operation of the post office at the said new location, by virtue of and on account of the aforementioned factors, represents a constant traffic hazard and a threat to the health and welfare of the people of the City of Miami Beach and must eventually result in serious traffic accidents; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has been put to the ex- pense of keeping a uniformed policeman on duty at the new post office location; and WHEREAS, it is not practical to provide adequate pre- cautions to overcome the existing hazards and the factors enumerated herein, NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that the proper authorities be requested to take immediate steps to move the said post office to a more practical location. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to each of our United States Senators, to the United States Congressman for this District, to the Postmaster General of the United States, and to the Postmaster for the United States Post Office in Miami, Florida.
