WHEREAS, Kenneth Thompson is the Assistant City
Manager and Personnel Director of the City of Miami Beach
and has ably demonstrated his good judgment, competence
and ability in performing the duties and services required
of the holder of such offices, and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Thompson has submitted to the City
Council his resignation from the above-mentioned offices
in order to accept service as City Manager of the City of
Sarasota, Florida, and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Thompson is in good standing and good
repute as an officer of the City of Miami Beach, and
:JHtREAS, the City Council is desirous, and deems it to
be to the best interest of the City of Miami Beach, to hold
in abeyance its acceptance of said resignation and to grant
instead a leave of absence to Kenneth Thompson from his ser-
vices with the City,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, that the City Council withhold ac-
tion on the tendered resignation of Kenneth Thompson at this
time.
BE IT FURTI-i.ER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby
grant to Kenneth Thompson a leave of absence without pay from
his offices of Assistant City Manager and Personnel Director
of the City of Miami Beach beginning February 1st, 1950, and
ending June 5th, 1951, for the purpose above set forth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby ex-
pressly reserves the right to cancel such leave of absence at
any time while it is still in effect without notice to Kenneth
Thompson and to accept the tendered resignation at the time of
such cancellation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council herewith ex-
presses its sincere good wishes for the success and well-being
of Kenneth Thompson in his service with the City of Sarasota,
Florida.
