BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATIONS

The purpose of this LTC is to share with you some activities that are planned to take place
in the City to commemorate Black History Month which runs from February 1 - 28, 2003.
To kick off the month, a group of City staff have planned a luncheon to take place
beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31st at the 21st Street Recreation Center. This
annual luncheon will include a taste of delicious soul food dishes, entertainment and an
educational component featuring a guest speaker. If you plan to attend, please RSVP with
Mercy William's in the City Clerk's Office at extension 6315.
To end the month-long celebrations, the City's Community Relations Board and the City
will be hosting a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25th in the 4th Floor
Gallery of City Halt, featuring a guest speaker, entertainment and noted members of the
community who will be honored. More details on the program will be shared with you as
soon as they are finalized.
