SUBJECT: Building Department walk-through permitting
You may have seen recent Herald articles about improvements to the City of Miami building
process. I wanted to share the following with you. The City of Miami Beach has been
streamlining services for a few years now and continues to provide walk-through permit review
on a daily basis.
Ticket issuance and general Information is provided (1st floor lobby city hall)
Walk-through tickets (8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
Walk-through plan review (mornings until all reviews are complete city hall)
10 Drawing Sheets maximum
Homeowner Counter (1st floor lobby city hall)
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
North Beach Office is available for drop off plan and general permitting assistance
Different types of construction projects are reviewed as walk-through permits including but not.
limited to:
Residential interiors and small additions, Condominium Units, Interior Alteration
Commercial (s 3 stories OR common area 1st floor, 1 unit only), Window
Replacement (s 3 stories OR common area 1st floor, 1 unit only), Railings (s 3
stories), Signs, Fence, Awnings, Carports, Roofing/Waterproofing, Flooring,
Exterior concrete restoration (s 3 story building), and many more!
Community outreach has begun with Saturday July 14th as the first of many community outreach
programs. The Building department will be explaining the life safety and importance of:
1. Simplified interior remodel permits for Single family residence and condominiums
2. New permit exemptions for single family residences, condominiums and multi -family
dwellings
3. Commission Enacted Permit Reprieve Program
