LTC 390-2018 FDOT PROJECT ALONG EASTBOUND I-195-SR 112-JULIA TUTTLE CAUSEWAY TO INSTALL INTERSTATE LOGOS ON PAVEMENT

Morales, City Manager DATE: July 12, 2018 SUBJECT: FDOT PROJECT ALONG EASTB I UND I-195/SR 112/JULIA TUTTLE CAUSEWAY TO INSTALL INTERSTATE LOGOS ON PAVEMENT The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform you on an upcoming FDOT project along eastbound Julia Tuttle Causeway which consists of the installation of six (6) Interstate Logos on the eastbound lanes approaching the entrance ramps to Alton Road and 41st Street/Arthur Godfrey Road. No work is expected to occur in the westbound direction as part of this project. The work is scheduled to occur over a five (5) day period between August 19, 2018 and August 23, 2018. Lane closures are anticipated to occur only at night (9:OOPM to 5:30AM). It is important to note that the lane closures for this project will coincide with the 24-hour lane closures beginning on July 23rd along westbound MacArthur Causeway for the rehabilitation of the East Bridge. City staff has notified FDOT of concerns with the concurrent lane closures on both causeways, albeit for a short duration, and requested that FDOT complete the work on the Julia Tuttle Causeway (given the 5 -day schedule) in advance of commencing the MacArthur Causeway work in late July. However, FDOT has advised that it cannot commence the Julia Tuttle Causeway work any sooner than August 19th and that traffic impacts should not be as severe given the work on both causeways is occurring in opposite directions.
