Resolution 7622 RESOLUTION NO. 7622 WHEREAS, the MIAMI HERALD a daily newspaper published in this area, has , for a long period of time, courageously pursued a policy in its editorial and news columns designed to stamp out crime and corruption in this area; and WHEREAS, crime and corruption brought to light in the MIAMI HERALD were revealed to be detrimental to the economy and to the best interests of the people of this area; and WHEREAS, these revelations in the MIAMI HERALD have resulted in a better understanding by the citizens of this area concerning local conditions ; and WHEREAS, in recognation of the aforesaid courageous stand taken by the MIAMI HERALD and in recognition of the efforts of that newspaper to stamp out crime and corruption, the MIAMI HERALD has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of Miami Beach, through its City Council, officially extend its congratula- tions to the MIAMI HERALD on the occasion of the signal honor bestowed upon the MIAMI HERALD and upon those responsible for its publication. BE IT HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that in further recognition of the fine public service rendered by the MIAMI HERALD, a copy of this resolution be sent to the MIAMI HERALD and to other news- papers in the area. BE IT HERiHY FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be signed by the Mayor and each member of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach. PASSED and ADOPTED this 16th day of May, A.
