Resolution 7744 RESOLUTION N0. 7744 WHEREAS, it has been made to appear to the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that the problem of lost, strayed, homeless and injured household pets and animals, including cats and dogs, has become a serious one, and WHEREAS, the existing police facilities and equipment are inadequate to properly cope with said problem and that the same requires specialized personnel and facilities, and • WHEREAS, the public welfare, health and safety calls for the immediate alleviation of said problem, and WHEREAS, the humane Society of Greater Miami (:D .P.0 .A. ) , a Florida Non-profit Corporation, is adequately staffed and equipped to handle the problem in an efficient and humane manner, and WHEREAS, the said Humane Society has offered to round up and impound all reported strayed, lost, homeless and injured cats, dogs and other household pets; o furnish trained personnel to investigate and adjust complaints pertaining to the mistreatment of such animals; to impound household pets which constitute a threat to the safety and peace of the community, including those suspected of rabies or other dangerous diseases; and to impound and maintain lost animals and provide for their restoration to their proper owners, and WHEREAS, the Humane Society has offered to extend its facilities, equipment and personnel for the attainment for the above Purposes for the sum of Three Hundred (,; 300.00) Dollars per month, for a term of Five (5) years from the 1st day of October, D. 1951, to the 30th day of September, A. D. 1956, subject to the right of termination by either party upon thirty (30) days written notice, and WHEREAS, there has been prepared an agreement between the City of Miami Beach and the Humane Society of Greater Miami (S .P.C.A. ) , setting forth the above provisions, and the City Council being familiar with the terms, conditions and provisions of said agreement, deems it to be to the best interest of the City that said agreement be entered into, NOW, TIIF-MORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach? Flori6a that the Mayor and the City Clerk be and they are authorized and directed to execute said agreement in the name of and on behalf of said City of Miami Beach.
