Resolution 7871 • RESOLUTION NO. 7871 A RESOLUTION CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 22ND DAY OF JANUARY, 1952, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR THEIR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL, AN ORDINANCE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO. 995, PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 5TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1951, AND ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, AN ELECTRIC FRANCHISE, AHD IMTOSING PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS RELATING THERETO", SUBJECT TO ALL PROVISIONS, TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN SAID ORDINANCE RECITED; DESIGNAT- ING THE VOTING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR THE REGIS- TRATION OF VOTERS QUALIFIED TO VOTE IN SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION; PRESCRIBING THE FORM OF BALLOT; PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ET•ECTION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, at a regular meeting duly called and held according to law, on the 5th day of December, 1951, passed, upon its third and final reading an ordinance known as Ordinance No. 995, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, AN ELECTRIC FRANCHISE, AND IMPOSING PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS RELATING THERETO", and WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 26 of the Charter of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and as recited in Section 8 of said Ordinance No. 995, said Ordinance shall not become a law until the same has been approved by a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, voting thereon at an election held for such purpose, and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that said Ordinance shall be in force after its approval by a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, voting at a special election held therefor, and upon the filing of acceptance thereof by said Company, the effective date of said Ordinance, however, to be not less than Forty (LSO) days after the final passage thereof by the City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That a special municipal election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from 7:00 o 'clock A.M. , until 7:00 o 'clock P.M. , Eastern Standard Time, on Tuesday, the 22nd day of January, 1952, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, for approval or disapproval, an ordinance known as Ordi- nance No. 995, entitled as aforesaid, and passed and adopted by the City Council on third and final reading on the 5th day of December, 1951. -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA SECTION 2: That said special municipal election shall be held at the following polling places in the precincts designated, to-wit: PRECINCT NO. 25: Being all of the area within the City of Miami Beach lying North of, the centerline of 51st Street, the Polling Place of which sha .l be at the 69th Street Fire Station, situated at 6860 Indian'Creek Drive. PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the centerline of 51st Street ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3Lth Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence Westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Water- way to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH LLE:• :"TARY SCHOOL, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of 14_1st Street and Prairie Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boule- vard, thence along the centerline of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boule vard and Pine Tree Drive. PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to ]li_th Street, thence West along the centerline of lith Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be in the SOUTHWEST LOBBY OF THE MIAMI BEACH AUDITORIUIMZ, entered from 17th Street at Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at the FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALT, BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No, 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the MIAMI_ BEACH EMPLOYEES I BENEVOLEKT ASSOCIATION CLUB L'UILDING, situated at 920 Alton Road. PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated between Third and Fourth Streets on Alton Road. -2- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within tae City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct I;o. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTNENT BUILDING located at 111 Meridian Avenue. SECTIOn 3: That , for the purpose of enabling persons to register who are qualified to register for and to vote in said special municipal election, the City Clerk, who is also Supervisor of Registration, shall open the books of said City from 9:00 o 'clock A.M. until 5:00 o 'clock '.i-. on each day, Sundays and Holidays ex- cepted, from December 6, 1;51, to January 12, 1952, both inclusive, and after said January 12, 1952, no person shall be registered for said election. For the purpose of enabling persons to register who are qualified to register for and to vote in said special municipal election the registration books of the City of Miami Beach will be open in the City Registration Office in the Office of the City Clerk, in the City Hall, from 9:00 o ' clock A.M. until 5:00 o ' clock P.M. , on each day, Sundays and Holidays excepted, from December 6, 1951, to January 12, 1952, both inclusive, and after January 12, 1952, no person shall be registered for said election.
