SUBJECT: Mayor's 41st Street Committee
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission (L TC) is to inform the Commission of the
motions passed by the Mayor's 41 st Street Committee at their August 1, 2018 meeting.
Members Present: Seth Gadinsky (Chair), Eric Hankin, Michael Burnstine , Robin
Jacobs, Betty Behar, Jeremy Wachtel
Members Absent: Yechiel Ciment, Francisco Diez-Rivas, Jerri Herberg Bassuk
1) MOTION: To adopt the Gehl Studio design recommendations as the vision for
41 st Street corridor and priorities for the Committee.

Motion Seconded By: Betty Behar
Motion Passed: Votes 6-0
2) MOTION: The Committee recommends the following pilot projects be made a
priority for future implementation: parklets, temporary shade structures, increased
lighting, programming, and a pilot bicycle lane on 41 st Street.

3) MOTION: The Committee recommends that the Finance and Citywide Projects
Committee allocate funding and prioritize 41 st Street as an area of opportunity for
a temporary and creative shade structure.
