Resolution 7938 RESOLUTION NO. 7938 A RESOLUTION CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD Oil THE 25TH DAY OF MARCH, 1952 FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR THEIR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL ORDINANCE NO. 1008 AND ORDINANCE NO. 1009 OF SAID CITY. WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, at a regular meeting duly called and held according to law on the 16th day of January, 1952 passed upon its third and final reading an Ordinance known as Ordinance No. 1008, entitled : - "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF TEE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" , which provides for additional benefits to employee members of the Retirement and Pension System for employees of said City created by authority of Chapter 18691, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937, as amended by Chapter 26035, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1949, and WHEREAS the said City Council, at a regular meeting duly called and held according to law on the 6th day of February, 1952 , passed upon its third and final reading an ordinance known as Ordinance No. 1009, entitled: - "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF EACH MEMBER OF TIE CITY COUi�CIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI 'BE CH, FLORIDA" , which fixes the salary of each member of the City Council at Five Thousand (` 5,000.00) Dollars per year, payable monthly, and WHEREAS, under the provisions of each of said. Ordinances neither of them shall become effective until approved by a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Miami Beach, voting at a general or special election called for such purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ItESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida: - SECTION 1: That a special election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from 7:00 o' clock A.M. until 7:00 o'clock P.M. , on Tuesday, the 25th day of March, 1952, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Miami Beach, Florida for approval or disapproval an known knoas Ordinance No. 1008, entitled as aforesaid and passed and adopted by the City Council on third and final reading on the 16th day of January, 1952, and for the purpose of submitting to said qualified voters for approval or disapproval an Ordinance known as Ordinance No. 1009, entitled as aforesaid, and passd. and adopted by the City Council on third and final reading on the '7th day of February, 1952. S:ACTION; 2: That said special election shall be held at the following polling places in the precincts designated, to wit: - PRECINCT NO. 25: Being all of the area within the City of Miami Beach lying North of the centerline of 51st Street, the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69th Street Fire Station, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive. OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of i, iami Beach lying between the centerline of 51st Street ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne 'Jaterway, thence `Jesterly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL , situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Prairie Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Jesterly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence - along the centerline of Dade Boulevard. to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boule- vard and Pine Tree Drive. PRECINCT NO. 23: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27, ON THE NORTH and a line Or THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to 14th :Street, thence 'Jest along the centerline of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be in the SOUTI-IJEST LOBBY OF THE MIAMI BEACH AUDITORIUM, entered from 17th Street at Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running Jesterly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at the FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Jashington Ave. and Drexel avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Jesterly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the MIAMI BEACH EMPLOYEES' BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION CLUB BUILDING, situated at 920 Alton Road. 1 PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH anda line ON THE SOUTH running 1esterly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Tilton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated between Third and Fourth Streets on Alton Road. PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT BUILDING located at 111 Meridian Avenue. OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA SECTION 3: That for the purpose of enabling persons to register who are qualified to register and to vote in said special election, the City Clerk, who is also Supervisor of Registration, shall oven the books of said City from 9:00 o'clock A.M. until 5:00 o' clock P.M. on each day, Sundays and Holidays excepted , from February 21st, 1952 to March 15th, 1952, both inclusive, and after March 15th, 1952, no person shall be registered for said election. SECTION 4: That the official ballot to be used at said special election shall be substantially in the following form:- CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA OFFICIAL BALLOT SPECIAL ELECTION MARCH 25TH1952 FOR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS : : Shall the ordinance known as Ordinance No. FOR THE ORDINANCE 1008, passed and adopted on its third and : : : finareading on the 16th day of January, • 1952 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE : NO. 845 OF THF CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" AGAINST THE ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO EMPLOYEE MEMBERS OF THE RETIREMENT AND PENSION SYSTEM FOR EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, be approved or disapproved?
