Resolution 7948 RESOLUTION NO. 7948 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, is cognizant of the increasing burden of taxation upon all of the taxpayers of Dade County, Florida, including those of the City of Miami Beach, and WHEREAS, the City Council is also cognizant of the serious economic effects upon the City and County which may result from oppressive taxes, and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of avoiding the curtail- ment of governmental functions and services required by its citizens, but is of the opinion that the cost of such governmental functions and services can be reduced, without such curtailment, by increasing the general efficiency of operation, thus reducing operating costs to the taxpayers of such functions and services, and WHEREAS, it is the clear and imperative duty of every public body, officer and employee to exert every effort to secure such reduction in costs of government by increasing efficiency in operation, with a view, not only to avoid the necessity for increasing taxes, but also toward the substantial reduction of taxes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager and the heads of all City Departments and every City employee be and they are hereby urged to immediately take steps to see that efficiency is increased in the operation of the City, that unnecessary expenses are eliminated and that every means is utilized short of curtailment of services to reduce operating costs. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, the County Budget Board and the Dade County Board of Public Instruction, be advised of this action by the City Council and of the imperative necessity for a reduction in County taxes to the end that investors and prospective home owners may feel assured that properties which they may acquire will not be confiscated through taxation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the Board of County Commissioners, the County Budget Board and the Dade County Board of Public Instruction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a Committee be appointed by the Mayor to meet with the Board of County Commissioners, the County Budget Board and the Dade County Board of Public Instruction, for discussion and cooperation in attaining the purposes and objects of this Resolution.
