Resolution 8028 RESOLUTION NO. 8028
WHEREAS, the Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Commis-
sion has heretofore granted an application of Airline Coach service,
Miami Beach, Inc., the holder of Certificate of Public Convenience
and Necessity No. 297, to Dick uo at any Point in the City of Miami
Beach passengers destined to and from the Dade County International
Airport, Dade County, Florida, without the necessity for any speci-
fic request to be made from any of the air lines; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach was a protestant to such order
entered by the Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Commission, No.
2624, entered on the 14th day of May, 1951, and filed exceptions to
said order; and
WHEREAS, representatives from the Mercury Cab Company, Circle
Cab Company, Beach Gab Company, Inc. General Cab Company, and Atlantic
Yellow Gab Company, Inc., were orotestants to such order, and Mercury
Cab Company and Circle Cab Company filed exceptions to said order;
and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of
Iyiiami Beach that there has been and is now sufficient public trans-
portation available to take care of the public need for transporta-
tion between the City of Miami Beach and the said airport; and
WHEREAS, the granting of said order extended materially beyond
convenience and necessity; and
WHEREAS, the granting of said order constitutes an additional
traffic hazard in the City of Miami Beach and will become, if said
order is permitted to remain, a continuing and evergrowing hazard
to the City of Miami Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, that the City Council urge the Florida Rail-
road and Public Utilities Commission to revoke the authority of Air-
line Coach Service, Miami Beach, Inc., the holder of Certificate of
Public Convenience and Necessity No. 297, and the holders of similar
certificates, to make pick ups at any point in the City of Miami Beach,
other than at a designated terminal, for carriage of passengers from
the City of Miami Beach to Dade County International Airport, or to
discharge passengers from Dade County International Airport other than
at a designated terminal.
