WI-illREAS, during the 2017legislative session, the Florida Legislature enacted Chapter
2017 • 193l Laws of Florida (Senate Bil1368), which in relevant part co designated Bridge Number
870054 on S.R. 112/W. 41st Street/Arthur Godfrey Road in Miami Beach as the "Senato~ Paul B.
Steinberg Bridge"; and
WHEREAS, Paul B. Steinberg was botnittBrooldyn, New York on March 21; 1940; and
WHEREAS) after coming to Fl01·ida in 1957, Mr. Steinbet•g earned his bachelor's degree
from the Univel'sity of Miami, followed by his Jul'is Doctor from the Stetson University College
ofLaw; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Steinbe1~g then served in the Florida House of Representatives fl·om
1972-1978 and in the Florida Senate from 1978-1982; and
WHEREAS, Bridge Number 870054 on S.R. 112/W. 41st Street/Arthur Godfrey Road is
a stat<Hltaintained bridge located within the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Steinberg)s law office has been adjacent to Bridge llLlmber 870054 fm
over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, section 334.071, Florida Statutes, provides that the installation of state bridge
designation signs shall be continge11t on the applicable county or city cotntn:ission passing a
resolution in support of the particular honorary bridge designation; and

WHEREAS, on May 16, 201'8, the Mayor and City Commission ofthe City of Miami
Beach adopted Resolution No. 2018-30303 supporting the Florida Legislature's codesigna:tion of
Bridge Number 870054 on S.R. 112/W. 41st Street/Arthur Godfrey Road as the "Senator Paul B.
Steinberg Bridge", a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, this Board would also lik~ to recognize Senator Steinberg's public service as ·
·a member ofthe Flodda Senate and Florida House of Representatives, as well as his GJVe1' 30 yeru:s
of providing legal services to the oommuni:ty,by approving the Florida Legislature's codesignation
of Bddge number 870054 on S.R. 112/W. 41st Street/Arthur Godfrey Road as the ''Senator Paul
B. Steinberg Bridge"; and
WHEREAS, this state bddge codesignation is located within County Commission District

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI~DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Bom·d:
. Section 1. Approves the Florida Legislatute's codesignation of Bridge Number
870054 on S.R. 112/W. 41st Street/Attl1m Godfrey Road as the "Senator Paul B. Steinberg
Bridge".
