Resolution 8364 RESOLUTION NO. 8364
WHEREAS, students of the Miami Beach High School
and other persons lawfully within the limits of North Bay
Village have recently been attacked by large gangs of young
hoodlums, who travel to this vicinity from various parts of
Dade County by "hot rods" and motorcycles and,
WHEREAS, the Police Department of North Bay
Village has made diligent effort to curb these activities
but appears to be inadequate in size to cope with this
situation, and,
WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Governor of the
State of Florida and the Sheriff of Dade County to maintain
the peace and law and order where local officials are unable
to do so, and
WHEREAS, the capture of these hoodlums .could be
best effected by the pooling of the resources of the
police departments of the imlediately surrounding communities
under the Sheriff of Dade County in the formation of a drag-
net squad,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Kanager
and the Acting Chief of Police be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to request the Sheriff of Dade County
to bring to justice the young hoodlums responsible for the
acts of terrorism heretofore carried on in North Bay Village;
that the City Ilanager and Acting Chief of Police be authorized
and directed to place at the disposal of the Sheriff of Dade
County all necessary facilities and personnel of the Miami
Beach Police Department for such purpose; that the City Clerk
be and he is hereby directed to transmit forthwith copies of
this resolution to the Sheriff of Dade County and the Chiefs of
Police of Liami, Surfside, North Bay Village, Miami Shores and
North Miami .
