Resolution 8422-t RESOLUTION NO. 8422 PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF A REGULAR EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS A NON-VOTING MEMBER OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD REPRESENTING GROUP TWO. WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter 18696, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937, as amended in 1951, it is provided that there shall be three employees of regular status elected to the Personnel Board of the City of Miami Beacn as non-voting members thereof, and, WHEREAS, the term of office of the non-voting member of the Personnel Board representing Group 2 of employees of regular and probationary status expires at midnight, July 31, 1953, and, WHEREAS, it is therefore necessary that an election be called for the purpose of electing a non-voting member of the Personnel Board to represent said Group 2 for the three year term commencing August 1, 1953, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Bead Florida, that a primary election and an election are hereby ' called for the purpose of electing a non-voting member of the Personnel Board for Group 2, said primary to be held between the hours of 9:00 A. W. and 5 :00 P. M. , on Tuesday, July 21, 1953, and said election to be held between the hours of 9:00 A. M. and 5 :00 P. M. , on Tuesday, July 28, 1953. SECTION 1 : That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to notify the members of Group 2 of the said primary election and election by posting notices stating the time, place and purpose of same, in a conspicuous place in each and every department of the City wherein members of Group 2 are employed. SECTION 2: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said primary and election, the City Clerk is hereby authorized to appoint three (3 ) employees to serve as Inspectors . SECTION 3: That the City Clerk be and he is nereby appointed as Supervisor of said primary and election, and is hereby further instructed to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia to the Inspectors, to enable them to properly hold and conduct said primary and election. SECTION 4: That tne three employees receiving the highest number of votes cast at the primary on July 21st in Group 2, shall be the only candidates for Board Member to be voted on at the Election to be held on July 28th, provided, however, that should any employee receive a majority of the votes cast at the primary, he shall be declared elected a member of the Personnel Board and the election in said Group 2, as herein planned, shall be omitted. SECTION 5 : That immediately after the polls are closed in the primary and in the Election herein called, the Inspectors shall proceed to open the ballot box and count the ballots cast, tabulating the result, and upon completion of said count they shall promptly certify the result of said primary or election, as the case may be, to tne City. Clerk in duplicate, on forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk. SECTION 6: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby 3structed to pre_sent to the City Council, at their first etirig following tKe olding of said election, the Certificates of the In ectors as to the rests of said election, whereupon this Body shall ca- v-ss sa certifieat- - and declare the result. PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of Jul A .
