Attached, please find a memo from Jorge Gomez, Planning Director, to the staff of the Planning
Department. This memo outlines the ongoing policy of the Planning Department regarding the
recommendation of individuals or firms that perform professional services. A summary of the
subject policy is enumerated hereto:
At no time, and under no circumstances, are any members of the Planning Department to
suggest, infer or recommend any individual or firm for any professional services under the
jurisdiction of the Planning Department. Professional Services include, but are not limited
to, Architects, Attorneys, Lobbyists, Landscape Architects, Engineers, General Contractors,
Sub Contractors, Property Managers, Real Estate Brokers and Leasing Agents.
Planning Department staff shall not, under any circumstances, provide feedback, comments
or recommendations regarding a specific individual or firm providing professional services.
For those individuals inquiring about any professional service, they may be referred to
development review board files or to various projects within the City that are under
construction. All development review board files in the Planning Department are public
records and available for review by any individual who wants to see them. Alternatively,
individuals may be referred to the Local Chapter of the AIA and the ASLA, Dade Heritage
Trust, the Miami Design Preservation League, or other applicable organizations.

Department Policy Regarding Recommendations for Professional Services
Please be advised that effective immediately, the following policy concerning
recommendations for professional services shall be in effect:
At no time, and under no circumstances, are any members of the Planning Department
