Resolution 8522 RESOLUTION NO . 8522
WHEREAS, the Personnel Rules of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, have heretofore become effective upon their passage
and adoption by the Personnel Board and their approval by the
City Council, and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Act was amended in 1951 so as
. to provide that the Personnel Rules would become effective
without the approval of the City Council, and
WHEREAS, by the Legislative Amendments of 1951 it was also
provided that authorization of expenditure of City monies could
only be effected through action by the City Council, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to make pro-
vision for a change in the basis for computing sick leave, annual
leave, and accumulated annual leave for certain members of the
Fire Department of the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that the Personnel Board of said
City be and it is hereby requested to amend the Personnel Rules
by adding thereto, immediately after Section 3(a) 5 of Rule XII
thereof, the following:
"6 . The amount of pay receivable by firemen,
fire enginemen, company fire captains, and
battalion fire captains for sick leave, annual
leave, or accumulated annual leave, shall be
determined on the basis of the average com-
pensation actually paid to such employees
during the six weeks period immediately pre-
ceding the taking of such sick leave, annual
leave or accumulated annual leave . "
