Resolution 8533 RESOLUTION NO. 8533
WHEREAS, Venetian Sedan Service is a public utility company
which owns and operates jitney busses for public transportation
in the City of Miami Beach, in the City of Miami and between said
Cities, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter of the City of
Miami Beach, the City Council is vested with full power and
authority to establish, impose and enforce rates and charges
for public utility- services or conveyances operated , rendered
or furnished by any person, persons, firm or corporation, and
JHEREAS, the Venetian Sedan Service has requested authority
to increase its present rates and charges for transportation of
passengers from points within the City of Miami Beach to points
within the City of Miami from the present fare of 200 for trans-
portation from points within the City of Miami Beach to points
within the City of Miami to a fare of 250 for transportation of
passengers from points within the City of Miami Beach to points
within the City of Miami, and
.1HEREAS, the City Council deems it to be to the best interests
of the City and of the Venetian Sedan Service that a public hear-
ing be held before it as the regulatory authority of the City of
Miami :beach to determine whether said company is entitled to such
increase in rate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
That a public hearing is hereby called to be held at 2:00 P.M.
on October 21, 1953 at the regular meeting place of the City Council
in the City hail, Miami Beach, Florida, for the purpose of hearing
all persons and receiving any evidence submitted on the question of
whether the Venetian Sedan Service is entitled to increase its fares
as above set forth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City Clerk be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to send a duly authenticated copy of this
resolution to Mr. Oscar Shumer, Manager of the Venetian Sedan Service
and to all persons or organizations who may request a copy thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby
directed to publish in the "Florida Sun" , a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a notice of this
hearing not less than five days prior to October 21, 1953 .
