SUBJECT: Landscaping Improvements at South Pointe Park
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the City Commission that the Parks and Recreation
Department will be temporarily closing some areas of South Pointe Park to perform
landscaping improvements.
The project shall consist of sod removal, surface grading and the installation of new sod,
with particular emphasis on areas surrounding the light house, the parking lot and the
great lawn east of Smith & Wollensky. After grading and installation, which shall take
approximately one week, the newly sodded areas will remain closed for additional
estimated three to four weeks to allow proper rooting and establishment.
The project is expected to commence on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, weather
permitting. The work will take place in phases, to minimize the impact on park patrons.
During this period, our Athletics Manager will work with "Yoga in the Park" instructors and
Commercial Outdoor Fee-based Activity (COFA) permit holders to identify alternate
workout locations.
