SUBJECT: City to Host Job Fair for the Home ess
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to advise you that the City's Homeless Outreach
Office is collaborating with CareerSource South Florida to sponsor a job fair for homeless
persons on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens from 10am to
3pm.
CareerSource South Florida/Miami Beach Center is engaging several dozen local area
businesses to participate in this SOBE Hiring Event that hopes to connect homeless persons
seeking work with employers ready to hire. City staff will be providing outreach and resume
support services to all of its clients in shelter including those at The Salvation Army, Camillus
House and Miami Rescue Mission. The City will also be providing transportation to and from
shelter to the Botanical Gardens to facilitate attendance. Graduates and past participants of the
City's Homeless Employment Program managed by H.O.P.E. in Miami-Dade, Inc. are also
encouraged to attend.
The City continues its commitment to offer employment support for its homeless residents
seeking to transition from the streets to independent living.
