Resolution 8748 RESOLUTION NO. 8748
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida has been advised by the MIAMI BEACH RAILWAY
COMPANY that it contemplates the acquisition of all the rights,
privileges, property, benefits and operating permits of the
MIAMI BEACH JITNEY BUS CORPORATION, INC . , which is now
controlled by one W. M. HODGES; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been further
advised that the consummation of this transaction is
depdndent upon assurances that the City Council presently
finds no need for the issuance of further or additional
jitney permits within the area presently served by the said
MIAMI BEACH JITNEY BUS CORPORATION, INC . , and that therefore
no further or additional jitney operating licenses for the
said area is being contemplated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City
Manager be and he is hereby directed and instructed to
advise the MIAMI BEACH RAILWAY COMPANY that no further or
additional permits to operate jitneys in the area served
by the MIAMI BEACH JITNEY BUS CORPORATION, INC . , will be
issued, provided that the MIAMI BEACH RAILWAY COMPANY takes
over the operation of transportation service in the area
presently served by the MIAMI BEACH JITNEY BUS CORPORATION,
INC . , and further provided that the said MIAMI BEACH RAILWAY
COMPANY furnishes transportation service which is adequate
and meets the requirements of public convenience and
necessity .

1954 .
