Resolution 9063 RESOLUTION NO. 9063
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach that the Dade County School Board
is constructing a new grade school on Treasure Island in North
Bay Village; and
WHEREAS, it has further come to the attention of the City
Council that the Dade County School Board is contemplating the
creation of a new school district which will require children
presently attending the Biscayne Elementary School to attend
the proposed new school structure on Treasure Island; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the further attention of the City
Council that the contemplated school on Treasure Island will
have no kindergarten facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is further informed that the
Biscayne Elementary School has adequate existing facilities for
school children residing on Normandy Isle, including kinder-
garten facilities .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that it is opposed to the
transfer of school children presently attending Biscayne
Elementary School to the new school building being constructed
on Treasure Island in North Bay Village, and that the Dade
County School Board be urged and earnestly solicited to continue
the present facilities at the Biscayne Elementary School as they
presently exist, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, present a certified copy of`this Resolution to
the Dade County School Board immediately and forthwith.
