Resolution 9068 RESOLUTION NO. 9068 WHEREAS, the Greater Miami Traffic Association, on behalf of, among others, the City of Miami Beach, has filed a petition for leave to intervene in the proceeding before the Civil Aeronautics Board entitled in the matter of the New York-Florida proceeding, Docket No. 3051 et al, which proceeding is concerned with, among other matters, application for the certification of Northeast Airlines, Inc. , to render new or additional air services between Greater Miami, on the one hand, and New England, New York and Washington, D. C. on the other hand; and WHEREAS, said petition has been allowed and said Association is now a party to said proceeding; and whereas the trade and commerce of the City of Miami Beach, and the convenience and necessity of the people of Miami Beach require the best possible air transportation services between Greater Miami and the cities of New England, New York and Washington, D. C.; and WHEREAS, the air transportation services available between Greater Miami and the City of New York are of vital importance to the City of Miami Beach, and, in spite of the fact that more passengers frequent that segment than any other in the country, said services still lack the needed stimulus of additional competition, which many other less important segments now enjoy; and WHEREAS, present air transportation services between Greater Miami and New England are inadequate, and such services being urgently required, this service should be supplemented and stimulated by the certification of Northeast Airlines, Inc . , between New England points and Greater Miami; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: In the opinion of this body, it is of vital importance to the economy of the City of Miami Beach and to the convenience and necessity of the people of Miami Beach and to the future develop- ment of the City of Miami Beach, that Northeast Airlines, Inc. , be certified by the Civil Aeronautics Board at the earliest possible date to render single-carrier air services between Greater Miami, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the im- portant cities of New England, New York and Washington, D. C. , and that the Greater Miami Traffic Association be, and it and each of its officers and agents hereby is, instructed to do everything within its and their power and to use its and their best efforts to urge and convince the Civil Aeronautics Board in the above-entitled proceeding to authorize Northeast Airlines, Inc. , to render, at the earliest possible date, the ew and additional services from and to Greater Miami whit ,have hereinbe- fore been found of vital importance to the City o iami Beach, its people and economy.
