Resolution 9611 RESOLUTION NO. 9611
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach is charged
with the duty of advancing and safeguarding the general welfare of the
City of Miami Beach and its inhabitants, and
WHEREAS plans are being formulated for the construction of
a Causeway and Highway linking the mainland of Dade County with those
certain islands and land groupings commonly known as the Keys, and
WHEREAS the proposed plan for said Causeway and Highway does
not contemplate providing the City of Miami Beach with convenient or
direct access thereto, and
WHEREAS such failure and omission deprives the City of Miami
Beach of its inherent right to participate in, or to receive its just
and equitable portion of the benefits and advantages of said Causeway
and Highway, and
WHEREAS substantial geographical and economic circumstances,
considerations and conditions imperatively call for and require the
placing of the City of Miami Beach in and upon the direct route of
said Causeway and Highway,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that the County Commission of Dade County,
Florida, be and it is hereby called upon to make such changes and
revisions in the proposed or existing plans for the construction of
said Keys Causeway and Highway so as to provide the City of Miami Beach
with a connecting link between the mainland of Dade County and said
Keys Causeway and Highway, or to provide convenient and direct access
thereto for the visitors, tourists, residents and inhabitants of the
City of Miami Beach, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Miami Beach be and he is hereby directed to furnish to each of the
members of the Dade County Commission, and the daily newspapers of
said County a duly certified copy hereof.
