Resolution 9655 RESOLUTION NO . 9655 WHEREAS, on the 20th day of February, 1957, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, passed and adopted Ordinance No. 1247, which provided that no tax sales shall hereafter be held for the non-payment of taxes but that, in lieu of such sale, the City shall file notice of tax liens for such delinquent taxes in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for Dade County, Florida; and WHEREAS, such change in the method of handling delinquent City taxes has obviated the necessity of maintaining a reserve for the purpose of purchasing tax sale certificates on behalf of said City, as provided for in Resolution No. 5585, passed and adopted by the City Council on July 22, 1942, but WHEREAS, such change of methods will prevent the purchase of the liens for unpaid taxes by persons or corporations other than the City itself, thus automatically increasing the amount of uncollected taxes which must be carried by said City; and WHEREAS, great increases from other causes may occur in any one or more of future years in the amount of uncollected taxes to be carried by the City as aforesaid; and WHEREAS, it is evident that in some future fiscal years the amounts provided for in the budgets of the City for uncollected taxes will fall short of the actual amount of uncollected taxes during such fiscal years and in other fiscal years the amounts provided for in the budgets will exceed the amount actually uncollected; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the balance now remaining in the Special Fund created by Resolution No. 5585 as aforesaid, shall be held and used solely for the purpose of making up the difference -•between the amounts provided for in future budgets of the City for uncollected taxes and the amount of uncollected taxes actually accruing in the fiscal year to which such budget applies. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all portions of such reserves as shall be set aside for uncollected taxes in the budgets for the current fiscal year and for future fiscal years which shall remain unused at the end of the respective fiscal years shall be added to said Special Fund for the purpose aforesaid.
