A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A
PERMANENT PLAYGROUND TO BE LOCATED AT BELLE
ISLE PARK, AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FIND
FUNDING TO ENSURE THAT THE PLAYGROUND SURFACE
IS PERMANENTLY INSTALLED, AND DIRECTING THE
MANAGER TO INSTALL HIGHER QUALITY, MORE
PERMANENT, SHADE STRUCTURES WITHIN THE PARK.
WHEREAS, on or about April 26, 2017, the Mayor and City Commission issued
Resolution 2017-29815, which authorized the temporary removal of the playground
equipment from Maurice Gibb Memorial Park ("Park") to Belle Island due to a temporary
closure of the Park due to a soil remediation project and the City's project to
reconstruction of the Park; and
WHEREAS, Maurice Gibb Memorial Park is being reconstructed with new
equipment; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Belle Isle enjoy using the park equipment with their
children and desire to keep the playground equipment at its current location; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to permanently have the
equipment installed, which would require the City to install a more permanent
playground surface and shade system for the playground area; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is directed to find funding in order to achieve the
above objective of making the playground permanent and ensure proper shade.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize a permanent playground to be located at Belle Isle Park,
and directing the City Manager to find funding to ensure that the playground surface is
permanently installed, and directing the manager to install higher quality, more
permanent, shade structures within the park.
