Resolution 9734 RESOLUTION NO. 97321 WHEREAS, the United States of America, acting through its duly authorized agencies, has heretofore, to wit: on January 3, 1949 and on December 15, 1953, executed and delivered to the City of Miami Beach, as grantee, a quit-claim deed and an amended quit-claim deed, the property described therein being at that time commonly known as the "Nautilus Veterans Administration Hospital" and which property included those certain islands known as "John' s Island" and "Collins Island"; and WHEREAS, the amended quit-claim deed, dated December 15, 1953, contained the following provision, to wit : "That the Partyof the Second Part (i .e . The City of Miami Beach) will in no case resell the said premises within eighteen (18) years from the date hereof without first obtaining the written authorization of the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, or her successor in function to such resale ." and WHEREAS, on the said property Mount Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami, Inc . has been and is now operating a hospital serving the general public and is at this time constructing a 350 bed hospital on that portion of the property known as "Collins Island" and desires to construct a nurses residence on that portion of the property known as "John's Island" , but the fact that title is vested in the City of Miami Beach and not in Mount Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami, Inc . makes it impossible to obtain proper financing for these projects; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, believes that the interest of all parties and the welfare of the public at large would be best served if it were authorized to, and did, convey said property to Mount Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami, Inc; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare be and he is hereby requested to grant to the City of Miami Beach written authorization to sell and ccbnvey said property to Mount Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami, Inc. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to furnish a certified copy of this resolution to the Hon. L. F. Carson, Regional Property Coordinator, Surplus Property Utilization Division, Department of Health, Education and Welfare, 50 Seventh Street, N. E. , Atlanta, Georgia. PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of March, A.
