Resolution 9796 RESOLUTION NO. 9796
PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF A REGULAR EMPLOYEE
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS A MEMBER OF THE
PERSONNEL BOARD REPRESENTING GROUP THREE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter 18696,
Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937, as amended in 1955, it is provided that
there shall be three employees of regular status elected to the Personnel
Board of the City of Miami Beach as members thereof, and
WHEREAS, the term of office of the member of the Personnel Board
representing Group 3 of employees of regular and probationary status
expires at midnight, July 31, 1958, and
WHEREAS, its therefore necessary that an election be called for
the purpose of electing a member of the Personnel Board to represent
said Group 3 for the three year term commencing August 1, 1958,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, that a primary election and an election are hereby
called for the purpose of electing a member of the Personnel Board for
Group 3, said, primary to be held between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and
7:00 P.M. , on Tuesday, July 8th, 1958 and said election to be held between
the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7 :00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 15'04 1958.
SECTION 1: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to notify
the members of Group 3 of the said primary election and election
by posting notices stating the time, place and purpose of same, in a
conspicuous place in each and every department of the City wherein members
of Group 3 are employed.
SECTION 2: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said primary
1and election, the City Clerk is hereby authorized to appoint
three (3) employees to serve as Inspectors.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby appointed as Super-
visor of said primary and election, and is hereby further
instructed to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia to the
Inspectors,to enable them to properly hold and conduct said primary and
election.
SECTION 4 : That the three employees receiving the highest number of votes
cast at the primary on July 8th in Group 3, shall be the only
candidates for Board Member to be voted on at the Election to be held on
July 15th, provided, however, that should any employee receive a majority
of the votes cast at the primary, he shall be declared elected a member of
the Personnel Board and the election in said Group 3, as herein planned,
shall be omitted.
SECTION 5: That immediately after the polls are closedin the primary and
in the Election herein called, the Inspectors shall prcceed to
open the ballot box and count the ballots cast, tabulating the result, and
upon completion of said count they shall promptly certify the result of
said primary or election, as the case may be, to the City Clerk in dupli-
cate, on forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk.
,I SECTION 6: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to present
to the City Council, at their first meeting following the hold-
ing of said election, the Certificates of the Inspectors as to the result
of said election, whereupon this Body shall c- •vass said cert' . icates and
declare the result.
