Morales, City Manager DATE: October 9, 2018 SUBJECT: PARKS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ADVISORY BOARD MOTIONS The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and Commission of the three motions passed by the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board at its meeting on October 3, 2018: MOTION 1: The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board motions for the Parks and Recreation Department to pursue an Imagination Playground and to look for an activation that can tie into this year's Art Basel. Motion Made by: Jonathan Fryd Motion Seconded by: Carolina Jones Motion Passes: 7-0 (Motion Passes) Members In Favor: Carolina Jones, Sean Smith, Jonathan Fryd, Dana Turken, Andrew Plotkin, Eliane Soffer Siegel and Robert Gonzalez Members Present by Phone: Stephanie Rosen, David Berger, Wil Martinez and Paul Stein MOTION 2: The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board motions to support the consensus and recommendations of the neighborhood with regards to the presentation shown at today's meeting on the Maurice Gibb Park. The Board also motions to support the possibility of a custom playground in light of the passing of the G.O. Bond. Wil Martinez and Paul Stein MOTION 3: In keeping with the previous motion made to have a unique art installation that serves as an interactive playground for children at the pocket park on 20''^ and Alton, the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board recommends the Fahr Wall feature which can incorporate an artistic design with the artist selected through an objective process. The Board also recommends respecting the proportion and scale of the park to include a maximum of 2 additional elements such as the"corn fields" and "mounds".
