Resolution 10519 RESOLUTION NO. 10519 WHEREAS a general election will be held in the City of Miami Beach on the 6th day of June, 1961, for the election of four (4) Councilmen of the City of Miami Beach, and WHEREAS the City of Miami Beach maintains a permanent registration system for the registration of the citizens of Miami Beach who shall become, or are eligible to participate, as electors, in municipal elections of the City of Miami Beach, and WHEREAS it is anticipated that a substantial number of citizens eligible to become duly qualified electors of the City of Miami Beach will register at the City Hall of Miami Beach for the said general election to be held on June 6, 1961, and WHEREAS it is manifestly inconvenient and constitutes a needless hardship and expense for a majority, if not all persons residing in the City of Miami Beach, to proceed to the City of Miami for the purpose of registering at the office of the Dade County Supervisor of Registration for the purpose of becoming duly qualified electors in national, state and county elections, and WHEREAS it would be to the best interests of democratic national, state, county, and municipal government to remove, as near as may be reasonably possible, all needless hardship incident to registration, such as physical hardship, transportation problems and expense, and loss of time from employment, and WHEREAS the Dade County Supervisor of Registration is empowered by the provisions of Section 98.281, Florida Statutes 1959, to appoint deputy supervisors of registration in settled sections of the County, inclusive of the City of Miami Beach, to accept registration of qualified persons, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the City Council of the City of Miami Beach does hereby request the County Commissioners of Dade County to authorize the County Supervisor of Registration to designate and appoint one or more suitable persons to serve as deputy supervisors of registration in the City Hall of the City of Miami Beach during the authorized period of registration for said municipal election up to and including May 6, 1961, and such additional period as may be determined to be suitable and proper for the purpose of enabling citizens of the City of Miami Beach to register simultaneously for State, County and Municipal elections, and that the Dade County Board of County Commissioners further authorize the County Supervisor of Registration to consider the desirability of appointing and designating duly qualified City registration personnel as such Deputy Supervisors of Registration. -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY- 1130 WASHINGTON AVENUE-MIAMI BEACH 39,FLORIDA BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that the City Clerk transmit duly certified copies of this Resolution to each member of the Dade County Board of Commissioners, the Acting County Manager, and to the County Supervisor of Registration.
