Resolution 10528 RESOLUTION NO. 10528
WHEREAS the brilliant and distinguished abilities
and talents of the Honorable George Smathers, the junior Senator
from the State of Florida, have brought him national honor and
fame, and
WHEREAS his brilliant career in the Senate of the
United States has reflected great credit upon the State of
Florida and its citizens, and
WHEREAS his indefatigable efforts on behalf of the
nation have not hindered him from demonstrating an unfailingly
keen and untiring devotion to matters and things vital to the
interests of all his constituents, including those within the
City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS a testimonial dinner is being held in the
City of Miami Beach for the said Honorable and distinguished
Senator on March 27, 1961, in appreciation of his manifold
accomplishments,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that March 27, 1961 be and
the same is hereby designated as "Senator George Smathers Day"
in the City of Miami Beach, and all its citizens are urged to
accord suitable and appropriate recognition and observance
thereof and thereto.
