Resolution 10679 RESOLUTION NO. 10679 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach has heretofore advised the County Manager and Committee members of tine Metro Dade County Commission of the great harm and damage which will result to the tourist economy and merchants of the City of Miami Beach if the Metro Traffic Court persists in adhering to its arbitrarypolicy of exacting a two dollar fine for on-street overtime parking violations, and WHEREAS, the preemption of the Traffic Court and traffic ordinances of the City of Miami Beach is now an accomplished fact and said problem is now of im- mediate urgency, and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Charter does not re- quire such drastic and purely punitive fine and that the imposition of the same upon the tourist economy of the City of Miami Beach will destroy the good will of tourist and shopper alike, and thereby greatly damage the economy of the City of Miami Beach, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach is fully familiar with the needs of the City of Miami Beach and is firmly convinced that the best interests of the City of Miami Beach demand the con- tinued existence of the uniform one dollar penalty for both off-street and on-street overtime parking. NOW, THEREFORE, be it duly resolved by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach that the Metropolitan Commission of Dade County, Florida, be and it is hereby urged to order and direct the Metropolitan Traffic Court to promptly and forthwith amend its regulations so as to continue in the City of Miami Beach the settled and tra- ditional uniform one dollar penalty for both off-street and on-street overtime parking.
