SUBJECT: Homeless Hiring Event
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide you a report on the success of the City's
SoBe Hiring Event targeting our homeless community.
On October 24, the City partnered with CareerSource South Florida to host a job fair at the
Miami Beach Botanical Gardens. More than 50 employers (ranging from hospitality providers to
municipal departments) were on-site accepting resumes and conducting job interviews.
The event hosted 182 job seekers . Of these, 99 received employment offers on-site . Men's
Wearhouse provided new suits for Miami Beach shelter clients and City staff provided
transportation to and from The Salvation Army, Camillus House and Miami Rescue Mission.
