SUBJECT: Completion of Beachwalk be een 64 Street and north of 53 Street
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide information to the Mayor and City
Commission regarding the completion of a portion of the Beachwalk, extending from
Allison Park at 64 Street to just north of 53 Street. This section will be open to the public
by Wednesday, October 31, 2018, and will connect with the existing Beachwalk at
Allison Park , providing a continuous shared use path from 79 to 53 streets. This is the
next step in the City's plan to construct and complete our portion of the Atlantic
Greenway Network, and a continuous coastal path from South Pointe Park to our
northern boundary at 87 Terrace.
In the following thirty days, the contractor will be addressing minor corrective items and
removing temporary fencing.
Access to the Beachwalk at Beachview Park, at 53 Street, will be maintained via a
temporary pedestrian pathway, until the final, permanent connection is completed with
the remainder of this project, currently under construction between 47-53 streets. We
currently anticipate project completion in March 2019.
