A RESOLUTION CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A CONVENTION
BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD; PRESCRIBING ITS DUTIES, AND 1 Oy

PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF APPOINTMENT AND THE ,43:�
TERM OF OFFICE OF ITS MEMBERS. (�
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA that an Advisory Board to be known as the City of Miami
Beach Convention Bureau Advisory Board be and the same is hereby
created and established, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED as follows :
1 . Said Board shall consist of ten (10) members; three of
whom shall be appointed by the City Council; and each Councilman
shall also be entitled to appoint one member to said Board.
2. Each member shall be a duly qualified and registered
voter of the City of Miami Beach, and shall possess a record of
interest in the welfare and betterment of the City; of proven
ability and integrity in his field of endeavor, and of demon-
strated unselfish devotion to civic duty .
3 . Each member shall be appointed for a term of one (1)
year. Any vacancy occurring on the Board shall be filled in
the same manner as was his predecessor.
4. Members of this Board shall serve without compensation,
but sufficient funds shall be provided by the City Council in
the annual City budget for reasonable and necessary expense to
be incurred by the Board in the performance of its duties. The
City Manager shall provide such administrative staff and clerical
personnel as may be necessary to assist the Board in the proper
performance of its duties and functions .
5 . The members of the Board shall select and designate
from its members a chairman and such other officers as may be
deemed necessary, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Board.
All meetings of the Board shall be open to the public. No
action shall be taken by the Board except by a majority vote of
the entire membership. The Board may adopt rules of procedure
governing its meetings and actions on matters within its juris-
diction, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Resolution.
6 . The City of Miami Beach Convention Bureau Advisory
Board is hereby vested with the power and authority to meet and
confer with the Convention Director of .the City of Miami Beach
and to make recommendations as to the policies and procedures
to be followed in the procuring, promotion and encouragement of
conventions to be held in the City of Miami Beach and to trans-
mit said recommendations to the Convention Director and to the
City Council of the City of Miami Beach for such action as the
said Convention Director and the City Council shall deem meet
and appropriate.
