RESOLUTION NO. 10879
BE IT UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it joins with and is
in total accord with the advocacy by the Florida League
of Municipalities of legislation increasing the levy of
a cigarette excise tax from five to eight cents; and that
the additional revenue to be derived from such increased
levy is urgently needed for the construction of mainten-
ance of indispensable municipal improvements; and that
such increased excise tax is an equitable levy upon direct
beneficiaries of municipal services, and
BE IT FURTHER UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a certified copy
of this Resolution be transmitted to the Honorable Fariss
Bryant as Governor of the State of Florida as a respectful
request for his wholehearted support and assistance in
obtaining the enactment of such appropriate legislation
at the 1963 Session of the Legislature of the State of
Florida.
