SUBJECT : Miami-Dade County Homeless Tru t Board "Changemaker" Award
This Letter to the City Commission is prepared to advise the Mayor and Commission that
the Miami Beach Police Department's Homeless Resource Unit is being awarded the
Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust's 2018 "Changemaker Award."
The Homeless Trust announced that this award is being given to the MBPD Homeless
Resource Unit for its "overwhelming dedication to those in our community who find
themselves homeless ." In the Trust's announcement of the award, it praised the
Homeless Resource Unit for its tremendous dedication to members of society that many
times find themselves without hope and trapped in a life of homelessness. The Trust
stated that these MBPD officers and its one civilian team member have exhibited
creativity and initiative in their approach to offering services and making a difference in
the lives of the less fortunate.
The MBPD Homeless Resource Unit will be honored by the Homeless Trust Board on
Thursday, November 81h at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Miami's Life Sciences Building
located at 1951 NW 7th Avenue .
