Resolution 11247 RESOLUTION NO. 11247
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach did
heretofore by Resolution No. 11213 express its objections to
the contemplated adoption by the Board of Commissioners of
Metropolitan Dade County of an Ordinance relating to the cre-
ation of Special Taxing Districts, and
WHEREAS, thereafter said Board of County Commissioners
did, in the best interests of the people of Dade County, amend
said proposed Ordinance so as to include therein a proviso
reading as follows :
" . . .that no such district shall be comprised
solely of a municipality or embrace all or
a part of a municipality without the approval
of the governing body of such municipality . "
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach
considers said proviso an adequate safeguard for the substan-
tial interests of the City of Miami Beach and its citizens
in the subject matter of said Ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach does hereby withdraw its objections
to said Ordinance and that said Resolution No. 11213 be and
the same is hereby rescinded, on the condition, however, that
the said amendment hereinabove set forth be retained in said
Ordinance, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach does hereby note with favor the foregoing action
of the said Board of County Commissioners, and does hereby
further express its trust that the governmental philosophy
implicit therein shall continue henceforth without diminution.
