Resolution 11264 RESOLUTION NO. 11264
WHEREAS, Northeast Airlines has appeared before the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida to request the
adoption of a Resolution supporting the application of said
Northeast Airlines pending before the Civil Aeronautic Board
for continued certification as a carrier from points in north-
eastern United States to Miami International Airport, and
return, and
WHEREAS, it is not the desire and intention to attempt
to infringe or encroach upon the rights, duties and jurisdic-
tion of the Civil Aeronautics Board, and
WHEREAS, however, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach has the duty of promoting and safeguarding the general
welfare of its residents and its citizens, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach possesses an economy
dependent upon tourists and tourism, and
WHEREAS, in performance of its duty the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach must take cognizance of the fact that
the economy of the City of Miami Beach is confronted with the
relentless efforts and attempts of other areas to vie and com-
pete with the City of Miami Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, without any desire or
attempt to endorse, approve or favor any specific air carrier
or carriers, that the said Civil Aeronautics Board be duly
advised that it is the consensus of said City Council that
the tourist economy and general welfare of the City of Miami
Beach will be enhanced by the certification by the said Board
of as many air carriers from as many points, to the Miami
International Airport, as the said Board may deem qualified
to render such service, and without limitation as to number.
