Resolution 11340 RESOLUTION NO. 11340
WHEREAS, MILLER, BACON, AVRUTIS & SIMONS, INC. , a Florida
corporation, hereinafter called the "Agency" , desires to produce
approximately 50, 000 copies of a 50th Anniversary Souvenir
Journal, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the City of Miami
Beach, at no expense to or financial responsibility of the City;
and
WHEREAS the City is in full accord with the additional good
will and publicity resultant from such souvenir journal,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that permission to produce a 50th
Anniversary Souvenir Journal is hereby granted the Agency under
the following conditions:
1. The Agency will produce approximately 50, 000 copies of
a 50th Anniversary Souvenir Journal commemorating the 50th Anni-
versary of the City of Miami Beach at a cost not to exceed
$45, 000.00, which sum shall be obtained through subscriptions
for approximately 45, 000 copies of the said Journal, at a price
of $1.00 each; the additional 5, 000 copies shall be made avail-
able to the City of Miami Beach at no charge to the City. If a
sum less than $45, 000. 00 shall be subscribed the Agency will
produce a proportionately lesser number of copies of the said
Journal.
2 . In the event there should be an insufficient response
from subscribers by January 15, 1965, the Agency may abandon
the project without any financial responsibility on the part of
the City for costs incurred as of the date of abandonment.
3. The Agency shall contract with subscribers for a pre-
scribed number of copies of the Journal before it is produced,
with payment due upon delivery of the Journal, which date of
delivery shall be on or about March 1, 1965, but in no event
later than March 20, 1965 .
4. The Agency shall produce the Journal and shall con-
tract with a printer to produce the finished Journal, in which
full color shall be used to the greatest degree possible, with
preference given to the use of color over the increased number
of pages, where one or the other must be sacrificed.
5 . The Agency shall handle the production of the Journal
at no charge other than costs directly incurred by it, which
costs shall be charged against the subscription monies
0 collected by it.
6. The Agency shall provide the City with a complete
financial accounting of monies received and disbursed, andany
profit realized through sales of the Journal shall be turned
over to the City' s Special Events Department, for use in fur-
ther promoting the 50th Anniversary celebration.
7 . The City shall bear no financial responsibility for
the production, preparation and printing of the 50th Anniversary
Souvenir Journal.

8. The City shall, through its Publicity Department, pro-
vide photographs needed for the Journal, and shall edit copy
prepared by the Agency.
9. The Journal shall contain the following:
a. A history of Miami Beach, provided by the Special
Events Department of the City of Miami Beach.
b. Articles devoted to hotel and apartment industries
of Miami Beach.
c. Cultural activities in Miami Beach.
d. Other features to be agreed upon between the
Agency and the City of Miami Beach Publicity Department.
10. The Journal shall contain no advertising, nor shall it
contain any commercial mentions other than those necessary to
the context of various articles and features contained therein.
