Resolution 11464 RESOLUTION NO. 11464
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, on the 27th day of March,
1965 as a special feature on its Fiftieth Anniversary Program,
did foster and promote a public parade of appropriate magnitude
and color to suitably commemorate this notable event, and
WHEREAS, Station WCKT-TV, with characteristic zeal and
alertness, immediately recognized not only the drama inherent
in the commemoration of this historic and auspicious chapter
in the vibrant history of the City of Miami Beach, but also
the extent and degree of the allure and appeal which the pre-
sentation of such spectacle would possess for its South Florida
viewing audience, and
WHEREAS, therefore, Station WCKT-TV did bring the pomp,
pageantry, ceremony, and enthusiasm of said parade to countless
thousands of homes for a full hour of viewing pleasure, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, for
itself and for its residents and citizens, desires to express
its appreciation to Station WCKT-TV and Sunbeam Television
Corporation for this splendid contribution to the public
interest, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it desires to express
its warmest appreciation and sincerest commendation to Station
WCKT-TV, and Sunbeam Television Corporation, its officers,
directors, management, announcers, cameramen, and all its office
and technical personnel for their outstanding public service
in telecasting said parade and making it possible for all in
South Florida to thus vicariously participate in this shining
chapter in the saga of the City of Miami Beach.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of April, 1965 .
