A RESOLUTION CREATING AND ESTABLISHING THE CITY
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR THE MEMBERS
THEREOF AND THE DUTIES OF SAID COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Miami Beach, by Resolution
No. 11603 deemed it advisable to appoint a Committee to aid the
Council in its desire to maintain the beauty of the City of Miami
Beach and the Council is of the opinion that the establishment of a
Committee to recommend to the Council with respect to the means by
which the beauty of the City may be maintained and improved,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. A Committee to be known as the "CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE" be and is hereby established.
SECTION 2 . The Committee shall be composed of seven (7) members.
The Mayor and each Councilman shall appoint one (1)
member each. Their term of office shall be for two (2) years. Any
vacancy occurring on the Committee shal be filled in the same manner
as was his predecessor. Each member shall be a duly qualified and
registered voter of the City of Miami Beach.
SECTION 3 . Members of this Committee shall serve without compen-
sation, but sufficient funds shall be provided by the
City Council in the annual City budget for reasonable and necessary
expense to be incurred by the Committee in the performance of its
duties. The City Manager shall provide such administrative staff
and clerical personnel as may be necessary to assist the Committee
in the proper performance of its duties and functions .
SECTION 4. The members of the Committee shall select and designate
from its members a chairman and such other officers as
may be deemed necessary, who shall serve at the pleasure of the
Committee. All meetings of the Committee shall be open to the public.
No action of the Committee shall be taken by the Committee except by
a majority vote of the entire membership. The Committee may adopt
rules of procedure governing its meetings and actions on matters
within its jurisdiction, not inconsistent with the provisions of
this Resolution.
SECTION 5 . The City of Miami Beach Beautification Committee is
hereby vested with the power and authority to make
recommendations to the City Council of the City of Miami Beach upon
the following matters :
1. The investigation, development and carrying out of
plans for the beautification of the City of Miami Beach.
2 . The encouragement of placing, planting and preservation
of trees, flowers, plants, shrubbery and other ornamental
plants in said City.
3 . The encouragement of a desire in the citizenry of the
City of Miami Beach to maintain and improve the beauty
of the City.
4. The recommendation of plans to the said City as well
as to other governmental agencies for the beautification
of the City.

5 . The recommendation of new ordinances and efforts duly
made to discontinue violations of any existing ordinance
or statute concerning the beautification of the City of
Miami Beach.
SECTION 6. That the Committee be and is hereby directed and
authorized to report its activities to the Council at
least once each six (6) months.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of September, 1965 .
