Resolution 11674 7 RESOLUTION NO. 11674 WHEREAS it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach that the Dade County Board of Public Instruction is contemplating terminating the use of South Beach Elementary School because of a continuing decrease in student enrollment, and WHEREAS it has also come to the attention of the said City Council that some indication has been made that said School Board is favorably considering the use of said South Beach Elementary School by the Miami Dade Junior College, and WHEREAS the location of such branch of said Junior College at said school site would be of great benefit and advantage to the community, and the educational system of the County, as well as the Board of Public Instruction, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that in the event that said School Board should deactivate South Beach Elementary School that said School Board thereupon be strongly urged to install a permanent branch of Miami Dade Junior College at said School site, with the pledge of the City Council to lend every effort to aid, assist, and encourage the use, growth and expansion of said Junior College at said location.
