Resolution 11696 RESOLUTION NO. 11696 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida did, on the 1st day of September, 1965 adopt its Resolution No. 11602, which Resolution is as follows: "WHEREAS the United States Government, by and through its duly authorized agency The National Park Service, is considering the acquisition of that certain land area in Biscayne Bay known as Islandia for recrea- tional purposes, and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach deems that such action by National Park Service would be of incalculable benefit to the citizens not only of the City of Miami Beach, but indeed of the entire State of Florida. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Honorable Stewart L. Udall, Secretary of the Interior, and the said National Park Service be and they are hereby respectfully urged to take all necessary meas- ures to consummate such acquisition for said purpose with all possible dispatch, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Honorable Stewart L. Udall, Secretary of the Interior, Senator Spessard Holland, Senator George Smathers, Congressman Dante Fascell and Congressman Claude Pepper. " and, WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida is informed and verily believes that a reiteration and reaffirma- tion of said Resolution is required for the advancement and pro- motion of the best interest and general welfare of the citizens and residents of Miami Beach, NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that said Resolution No. 11602 be and the same is hereby reiterated and reaffirmed and that the appropriate officials, agencies and departments of the Federal Government be and they are hereby urged to acquire Islandia as a national monument. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolu- tion be transmitted to the Honorable Stewart L. Udall, Secretary of the Interior, Senator Spessard Holland, Senator George Smathers, Congressman Dante Fascell, and Congressman Claude Pepper. PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of January, 1966.
