Resolution 11701 RESOLUTION NO. 11701
WHEREAS JACKIE GLEASON and his staff have afforded Miami
Beach, particularly, and the entire State of Florida, immeasur-
able national publicity worth many millions of dollars, and
WHEREAS such publicity on network television and in thous-
ands of stories in newspapers and magazines throughout the
nation have contributed in great measure to increased tourists
being attracted to this area, with the attendant expenditures
of many millions of dollars with our property owners and business
houses, and
WHEREAS JACKIE GLEASON has employed many local people in
his television productions, has brought many families into Dade
County to live permanently, and has, during the past two years,
maintained a large payroll running into the millions of dollars,
and
WHEREAS JACKIE GLEASON has praised the attributes of Miami
Beach through all information media, and has publicly demonstra-
ted great love and affection for our city, and
WHEREAS JACKIE GLEASON intends to broadcast next season in
color, and many other television shows intend to pursue the
same course,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUN-
CIL OF MIAMI BEACH, in behalf of the people of the City of
Miami Beach does hereby express deep appreciation to JACKIE
GLEASON and his entire staff, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Miami Beach does
hereby formally extend an invitation to JACKIE GLEASON and his
staff to return again to Miami Beach for his next telecast
• season and continue emanating his television broadcasts from
the Miami Beach Auditorium.
