Resolution 12275 RESOLUTION NO. 12275
WHEREAS, it has long been the consensus of the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach that the location of
the World Headquarters of JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL
in the City of Miami Beach is mutually advantageous; and
WHEREAS, although JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL has
made its World Headquarters in the City continuously since
1955, and a cordial, cooperative and mutually beneficial
relationship has always existed between the City, and its
citizens and residents, and the JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL;
and
WHEREAS, due to legal complications, JUNIOR CHAMBER
INTERNATIONAL and the City have been delayed in entering into
a ninety-nine year lease; and
WHEREAS, JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL is now considering
purchasing a site for its World Headquarters; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that the JUNIOR
CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL realizes that the City is an ideal
location for its World Headquarters, being a focal point
in the Americas, and has become identified in the minds
of people from all over the world as its Headquarters, after
such a long and cordial relationship;
NOWi THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the City Council, and the
citizens and residents of the City, do hereby earnestly urge
the JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL to retain its World Headquarters
in the City, and do hereby assure the JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL
that they are vitally and keenly interested in retaining
the JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS in the City, and
will spare no effort to accomplish this end.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this
resolution be transmitted to the Secretariat of the JUNIOR
CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL and to the officers and directors of
the MIAMI BEACH JAYCEES, for the purpose of further advising
JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL that the City of Miami Beach
will do all in its power to aid and assist JUNIOR CHAMBER
INTERNATIONAL in establishing its permanent World Headquarters
therein.
